You’re not the only one

Most of us feel like beginners in prayer.

We love God. We want to pray. But we’re not sure we’re doing it right, and we’re often doing it alone.

Back in 2018, a friend asked me to pray for half an hour, and I had no idea what to do, despite decades walking with God.

After I found a prayer mentor, six years in, I still ask questions, several times a month: is this normal? What do you do about this?

We don’t have language around the experience of being a person of prayer, which can make us feel a bit crazy.

As I interviewed friends about their practice of prayer, the most helpful moments didn’t come from reading a book, but from other people who could demonstrate and answer questions.
